Venue:
Beijing Arbitration Commission, Chaoyang District, Beijing & Shanghai Arbitration Commission, Jing'an District, Shanghai

Date:
Mon, 12/10/2012

WunschARB and Mercer Island Arbitration Chambers International LLC are holding a joint Seminar and Workshop in Beijing on 10th & 11th December 2012 and in Shanghai on 14th & 15th December 2012 on “Cross-Examination in International Arbitration.” The aim and object of this Seminar is to provide learning-by-doing training in cross-examination for lawyers and experts from China, who may have limited opportunity to learn cross-examination in their domestic practice.

This program is co-organized by WunschARB and Mercer Island Arbitration Chambers International LLC and hosted by Beijing Arbitration Commission and Shanghai Arbitration Commission. It features a team of renowned and experienced arbitration instructors from the US, Asia and Europe.

This one-and-half day program includes three training sessions:

Part 1 - Faculty demonstrations of basic techniques for conducting cross-examination (of both fact witnesses and experts witnesses), and case analysis and strategy for effective cross-examination.

Part 2 - Exercises in conducting cross-examination of fact witnesses with the supervision and critiques of the faculty.

Part 3 - Exercises in conducting cross-examination of expert witnesses (both traditional party-appointed witnesses and witness conferencing) with the supervision and critiques of the faculty.

To make the exercise as realistic as possible, the course is based on a real case adapted to the needs of the exercise. The course design is based on the instructional method of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). NITA has 40 years of experience in both public programs teaching trial advocacy and deposition practice in the U.S., as well as private programs for law firms and government agencies in the United States and overseas.

This course is subject to charge for each participant. The number of participants is limited to 40 for each seminar in Beijing and Shanghai in order to ensure the quality and efficiency of the training, as well as personalized coaching by the instructors. The participants will be split into groups based on each participant’s personal background and experience to ensure sufficient interaction during the training sessions.
